“The lasting memory of spending time drinking (tea, what else!) and eating doughnuts with friends in the Grad House as a post-graduate student from the UK in the mid-70s. During my period in Halifax (1975-78) Dalhousie provided me with the first opportunity to teach and coach within higher education, which has enabled me to enjoy a successful academic career in the UK within the University and elite-sport sectors. This winter also marks the 40th celebration of Dalhousie University Soccer team's trip to the UK following another successful AUAA championship season. The players from the season included Dalhousie's Professor Jeff Dahn. The UK trip incorporated games against professional teams in Sheffield, Wolverhampton and Glasgow as soccer began to have an impact on the sporting scene at Dal for both men and women. More recently, friends and fellow Dalhousie graduates Len Vickery (MSc 1979), his partner Roberta (nee MacDonald: MSc 1979) and former Athletic Department Administrator, Evy Stadey, came to visit at my home in the UK's Yorkshire Dales as we were all close to celebrating our retirements after fulfilling careers in England and Canada. ”David H.
